Thank you for visiting the Office of Early Childhood Education (OECE) CLASS page!

The Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) tool is used by OECE to observe interactions between teachers and children at a given point in time, for a variety of purposes, including teacher professional development, program monitoring and evaluation, and research.

The CLASS measures three domains (Emotional Support, Classroom Management, and Instructional Support) of which OECE concentrates on Instructional Support. The following informational links are designed to provide further information on the use of CLASS within the District, as well as provide professional development support.

For each dimension an introductory link is provided, followed by content specific information regarding rating levels and, lastly, information to provide more effective teaching strategies.
