Early Childhood Education

Kindergarten

Each elementary school offers students in its attendance area either half-day, full-day, or a four-hour program. Kindergarten students must attend their neighborhood school except in cases where the student has been accepted in an “Options for Knowledge”(magnet school) program.

  • According to Illinois state law, children must be five years old on or before September 1st of the current school year (no exceptions).
  • An original birth certificate, proof of residency, a recent physical exam, with up-to-date immunizations, and a dental exam, are required for registration.
